Hi, I'm Emilio Alomía.
Husband, BYU mechanical engineering student, entrepreneur, and the mechanic behind The Campus Car Guy.
It started with my first truck
I grew up in Florida and got into cars the moment I got my first truck, a 2001 F-150, at 16. I wanted to know how everything on it worked, so I started fixing it myself.
The more I learned, the more I saw what the industry could be: a chance to build something of my own and help people while doing it.
Today I'm a junior at BYU studying mechanical engineering and entrepreneurship. I'm 24 and I've been working on cars for eight years.
These days I drive a 2004 Lexus GX470 with over 231,000 miles on it. The goal is to get it to 350,000 miles. Follow the build on TikTok or Instagram to see how it's going.
Why I started The Campus Car Guy
Students around me were paying shop prices they couldn't afford, and a lot of them were nervous about getting taken advantage of by a mechanic they didn't know.
So I started coming to them. I fix cars where they're parked, I help identify the issues, and I keep prices fair for a college budget. Families and neighbors in the area started calling too, and now I serve all of Utah Valley.
